"CDC's Futures Initiative"

Since June 2003, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
has been engaged in a strategic planning process called the Futures
Initiative, to ensure that CDC will continue to have the capacity to
protect and improve the health of the American people in the 21st
century.  The initiative is aimed at a fresh examination of CDC's
functions, organizational structure, and communications capabilities. 

 

Purpose:

This live program will provide participants with: 

 

*         Information about the Futures Initiative, the strategic
planning process that will shape CDC's future and serve as a catalyst
for change in public health.

*        The opportunity to provide input into the CDC Futures
Initiative including suggestions on directions, comments on
implementation, and questions to the panelists before the program at
FISatellite at cdc.gov.

*        Tools to track the progress of the CDC Futures Initiative.

*        Information on how viewers can be involved in the Futures
Initiative proposed by CDC.

Target Audience:

The intended audience is national and local health care program
personnel and providers, leadership of state and local health
departments, public health practitioners, policy makers, boards of
health, academic institutions, professional organizations related to
health care, community organizations, business leaders, health related
advocacy organizations, and civic leaders.

 

 

Presenters:

 

Julie Louise Gerberding, MD, MPH, Director, Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention

Ed Thompson, MD, MPH, Deputy Director, Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention

And key representatives from State and Local Health Departments as well
as members from private sector business involved in the Futures
Initiative process.

Participants are encouraged, but not required, to register and evaluate
the broadcast/web cast. Registration and evaluation provide valuable
feedback to CDC.  A certificate of attendance is awarded to participants
who complete the evaluation process.  
Participants have from April 12, 2004 to May 12, 2004 to register and
evaluate the program. Web on Demand (WD0044) registration and evaluation
